Since 2009, Land Rover, owned by Tata, has operated in India. The six models in the British SUV specialist’s lineup are divided between the sub-brands of Range Rover Price India and Discovery.

In India, the Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar are among the most popular Land Rover vehicles. In late 2020, the Land Rover Defender will also be included in the lineup.

The most costly Land Rover vehicle is the Range Rover (Rs. 4.17 Crore), while the Discovery Sport (Rs. 72.36 Lakh) is the least expensive.

In 2023–2024, Land Rover is anticipated to introduce the Range Rover Evoque 2024 (costing Rs. 77.00 Lakh), Range Rover Electric (costing Rs. 3.00 Crore), and DC100 (costing Rs. 70.00 Lakh) in India.

1.Land Rover Defender

In India, the Land Rover Defender is a six-seater SUV that costs between Rs. 93.55 Lakh and 2.29 Crore.

Only an automatic transmission is available with the 3L diesel and 2L and 3L petrol engines in the Defender.

Defender’s stated fuel economy ranges from 6.8 mpg on gasoline to 14.01 mpg on diesel.

The Defender has a 397-litre boot and 291 millimetres of ground clearance.

Defender comes in 34 different configurations and eleven gorgeous colours.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS and Toyota Fortuner Legender face stiff competition from the Defender in terms of pricing and specifications.

The Land Rover Defender’s features

The Land Rover Defender is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a head-up display, ambient lighting, cruise control, a head-up display, a three-zone climate control system, a 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 14-speaker Meridian sound system. Adaptive cruise control, cornering brake control, blind spot assistance, traction control, electronic stability control, six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear pre-collision monitor, and a 360-degree camera are some of its safety features. Four further customization packs are available from Land Rover: Explorer, Adventure, Country, and Urban.

The 300PS/400Nm 2-litre petrol engine, the 300PS/650Nm 3-litre diesel engine, the 297PS/640Nm plug-in hybrid 2-litre petrol engine, the 400PS/550 Nm 3-litre petrol engine, and the 525PS/625 Nm V8 petrol engine are the five engine options available for the Land Rover Defender. It is coupled with an all-wheel drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission. There are three configurations of the Defender: 90, 110, and 130.

There are five main trim levels available for it: SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE, X, and Defender V8. The Carpathian Edition of the Defender V8 is also available. Only the X, HSE, and Defender V8 trim levels are offered for the Defender 130, which also comes in an exclusive Outbound edition.

The Land Rover Range Rover is an SUV vehicle with seven seats that costs between Rs. 2.38 and Rs. 4.17 crore in India. Only the 3L diesel and 3L and 4.4L petrol engines with automatic transmissions are available for Range Rovers. Range Rover’s stated fuel economy ranges from 8.7 mpg on gasoline to 13.16 mpg on diesel. Range Rover comes in fifty different configurations and eleven gorgeous colours. Range Rover poses a serious threat to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Rolls-Royce Phantom in terms of pricing and specifications.

The Range Rover now boasts a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain from Land Rover. The 3-litre  petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain of the PHEV, available in both regular and long-range versions, is rated for 440PS or P510PS, depending on the version.

Retail prices for the Range Rover PHEV (ex-showroom) range from Rs 2.62 crore to Rs 4.15 crore. It competes with vehicles such as the Bentley Bentayga, Rolls Royce Cullinan, Volvo XC90 Recharge, and the soon-to-be BMW XM.

There are still two-litre, four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines available, and they are mated to an eight-speed automated transmission that powers all four wheels.

Only an automatic transmission is available with the 2L diesel and 2L gasoline engines for the Range Rover Evoque. The Range Rover Evoque is rated for 10.9 kmpl. The Range Rover Evoque has a 472 litre boot and 212 mm of ground clearance. The Range Rover Evoque comes in two versions and five stunning colours.

On May 31, 2023, Land Rover will introduce a brand-new, high-spec SV version of the Range Rover Sport. In comparison to the base Range Rover Sport, the SV model will come with even more luxurious options and a more comprehensive equipment set. It will also be available with a more potent petrol engine option, most likely the larger Range Rover’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine (which is sourced from BMW).

Only an automatic transmission is available with the Discovery along with 3L and 2L diesel and petrol engines. There are eleven gorgeous colours and seven variations available for Discovery.

In India, the Land Rover Discovery is now available in the new, high-end Metropolitan Edition trim level. Priced at Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India), it is based on the R-Dynamic trim level. Its highlights include a panoramic sunroof, black brake callipers, new 20-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels, four-zone climate control, and 20-way adjustable front seats.

Prior to this, Land Rover had introduced the 2021 Discovery in India, with prices beginning at Rs 88.06 lakh (ex-showroom). The new feature list and redesigned front and rear fascias of the SUV are part of its makeover.

Three powertrain options are available for the new SUV: a 2.0-liter gasoline engine (P300), a 3.0-liter gasoline engine (P360), and a 3.0-liter diesel engine (D300). The Discovery is available from Land Rover in two trim levels: Standard and R-Dynamic. The S, SE, and HSE versions are available in both trim levels.
