The highly awaited Punch EV from Tata Motors has recently launched in the nation at an initial Tata punch  price of Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

This sub-four-meter electric SUV is available in five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. Bookings for this vehicle start at Rs. 21,000, and deliveries are scheduled to start on January 22, 2024.

Outside

The Punch EV maintains an exterior design that is comparable to that of its ICE predecessor. Nonetheless, it incorporates certain design elements from the Nexon EV, including as an aerodynamic alloy wheel design, a vertical slat-patterned grille with split LED headlights, and a full-width LED light bar up front with a blanked-off grille.

Inside

Compared to the ICE version, the Punch EV has greater functionality. It has an all-digital instrument cluster, twin-spoke steering wheel, wireless charger, auto climate control, jewelled gear selector, electronic parking brake, six airbags, blind spot monitor, and a 360-degree surround camera.

It also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The performance, powertrain, and battery pack

The Tata Punch EV is propelled by a single motor configuration paired with two different battery pack options: a 25kWh and a 35kWh one. The latter is available in the Long Range trim, whereas the former is only available with the Standard Range version. Regarding driving range, the Standard Range is said to have a 315 km range, while the Long Range has a 421 km range on a single charge.

The duration and range of charging

A 50kW DC fast charger can charge the Tata Punch EV from 10% to 80% in just 56 minutes.

Safety

There are currently no crash test safety ratings available for the Tata Punch EV.

Competitor

The Citroen eC3, Mahindra XUV400, Mg comet will be the Tata Punch EV’s sole direct competitor.
